  Reconstruction of the Croatian veteran centre in Šibenik

Croatian veteran centre was intended and designed as residential – rehabilitation centre in which Croatian veterans, soldiers returned from peacekeeping missions, injured demines, civilian war victims and other individuals in need of this kind of care, will be stationed permanently or temporarily.

Complete community involvement will be provided for users of the Centre, as well as group counselling, workshops and training courses, workshops for occupational activities, psychosocial support, physical rehabilitation, educational and work therapy, physical training and sports and recreation in the indoor and outdoor.

To meet all of planed demands, building should contain accommodation, sport, therapeutic, and restaurant facilities.

This project refers to construction planning for the „Croatian veteran center“, capacitated to accommodate 130 users with some therapeutic activities as well, both indoor and outdoor.

Existing building is retained in its entirety and reconstructed. Aadministration is situated in one wing, and psychosocial support and physical rehabilitation in other. Gym is partially annexed on the existing building, forming attractive glazed street facing facade.

Social spaces and restaurant form the main axis that runs thru entire building, connecting existing house with upgrade, and continues to outdoor sports and recreation courses.

The upgrade has four stories (P+3) and contains accommodation facilities in upper stories and part of ground level, while restaurant and kitchen take the rest of ground level. There is a corridor extension for kitchenettes and living rooms on each of the upper stories.
