Residential Buildings

  Five Family Houses

A design proposal for a small hamlet of homes on the island of Korcula. The task was to create a group of houses with individual qualities which could be built separately over time. The common brief being environment friendly, low energy with maximum us of the external and garden areas.

Group of 5 family house is located on the outer part of the bay, on the northern slope of a thick pine forest, 40 m from the sea with a view to the island Badija and Renaissance Franciscan monastery from 15.st and the mountain range Peljesac in the background. The slope of the plot size of 2500 m2 is divided into 5 parts -5 plateaus at different levels on which is located 5 units introverted to one another which does not interfere with either the sea view or the degree of privacy. Reminiscent as a traditional use of this space, we have designed level plateaus  separated by stone walls. Space within the walls provides privacy and gradation of natural Mediterranean gardens,  and terrace, through the shaded terrace at the outdoor dining area to the interior which opens to the outside through the glass screens to allow the users to stay comfortable in all seasons and weather conditions. Surface houses are in the range 150-250 m2 with customized internal requirements of end users.
